Museum for Murano Glass in Venice
Competition
1st Prize
This project concerns a new wing to the existing Murano Glass museum dedicated to contemporary works and temporary exhibitions.
Using a masonry wall-existing overlooking the inner courtyard of the museum-like barrier between old and new, we have created a series of walkways suspended glass on a bath of water. The alternation of small green spaces, passages transparent water works (installed in the water or in not accessible showcases) creates a play of illusions, lights, colors reminiscent of the magical Venetian atmosphere. So are the visitors themselves to integrate with the game of reflections between art and architecture, coming to compose a painting in motion in which the figures overlap or not in a changing and interesting alternation between works of art (out of the water or simply placed in the green spaces) and visitors; an increasing opacity of the glass create situations of doubt, ambiguity.
